One great advice that a friend gave me when I left Bangor was : read the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
...
the what ?
Because he's a very good friend, I trusted him and I bought that book. It's just absolutely brilliant. There's a very brief description from Wikipedia :
"The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, which includes the Eight "I'd Really Rather You Didn't"s, is a text written by Bobby Henderson that is considered to embody the main beliefs
of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM), a religion created as a counter to Intelligent Design (ID)."
And some phrases from the book !!
"With these changes come religious opportunities the likes of which haven't been seen since the
Reformation"
"Design advocates have sucessfully argued that their alternative theory deserves as much attention as Evolution, since neither can be considerated fact"
"It seems strange that Evolution is singled out as "just a theory" when there are so many basic ideas
in science that remain unproven, yet are still taught as fact"
"ID proponents can boast of several scientists -brave men who are willing to be called upon by
name- to represent their views"
"... who are probably a little warm now, if you get my drift"
"However, I predict that the well-prepared ID scientists will soon have liberal activist judges quaking
in their penny loafers"
"Far be it from me to cast
stones, but there are disturbing rumors about him going around"
"Laws will be passed and upheld, and only judges will be able to rule on them"
"To put it bluntly, the god-hating communists will have finally won"
"Extending the science tool metaphor further, shouldn't we endeavor to give scientists the largest collection of tools possible ?"
Now, it's my turn to advise you all to read that book and become Pastafarians !!
"I've been foolish and deluded"
Wow, it's been ages since I posted anything there... Several reasons to that : I don't have internet anymore at my flat and... well, that's it.
My trip to Bangor was brilliant, the only problem was the day I left France, there was snow everywhere, so I nearly broke my back on my way to the station, and I spent hours in the train : I had
to change in Paris because we couldn't reach Châtelet for some reasons, and then this damn train was really really slow. I thought I would miss my plane, but no! It was an hour and a half
delayed. In Liverpool, the weather wasn't better, I didn't get lost like the previous time but all the trains were late. I finally ended walking in the Belle Vue around 5.30 pm (11 hours after I
first got on a train in the morning !), freezing because it was snowing in Bangor too. But a friend was already there waiting for me :)
Came back on Friday, once again it was really hard to leave this place and everybody there. But I'll be back soon.
Anyway, the big news is : we left Fizz-Buzz for a quizz game !!
Some quotes I've been asking the other students :
1) "Living easy, loving free..."
2) "A shortcut to what ? Mushroom !"
3) "Mama put my gun in the ground"
4) "You ain't nothing but a hound dog and you ain't no friend of mine"
So, did you guess what song/movie they come from ??
1) "Highway to Hell", AC/DC of course !!
2) The Lord of the Ring : The Fellowship of the Ring
3) "Knockin' on Heaven's door" (not originally by the Guns n' Roses, but it is the best version)
4) "Hound Dog", Elvis Presley
More to come !!
Now we're on holidays, I'll have plenty of time to write loads of this blog, so see you very soon :D
